Campaign Story
I have chosen to take a placement in Tanzania for my final year in Adult Nursing. I feel it will greatly expand my knowledge of the nursing field, and allow me to gain greater confidence and independence in what I do. It is a country which I believe will provide a vast amount of opportunity, that I just can't access here in the UK. It will be the first time I have flown this far on my own, and all the money raised that is paid to Work the World for my elective, will go towards supporting local communities and economies in Tanzania. This includes new equipment for under-resourced hospitals such as the one I will be working in and medical supplies. I will also bring over some donations of my own for the nursing staff I meet. It will help to improve healthcare within the communities and I'll be able to apply skills I have learnt through the NHS to healthcare systems which are naturally very different. I will also have the opportunity to spent a week on the Village Healthcare Experience, living with a local family in a hut. It will be very different to a hospital environment and will have the community element where I will be working in a health clinic.
