My sister Cheche Santo Cabaluna has chosen the path of Nursing so she could care for the sick and help save lives. She's only 24 years old. Just two years in her RN practice, she fell ill on July 2017 thinking she acquired some infection.
Weeks later, she was given a diagnosis of Non Hogkins Lymphoma, Stage 3. It was the start of her painful and long journey toward her goal of winning this battle against the cancer.
The medical appointments, hospitalizations, laboratory procedures and chemo treatments came with a hefty cost that we didn't prepare for (more than Php 600,000). Our family already exhausted every single cent from our savings to fund all these.
Unfortunately, Cheche's first rounds of chemo was not enough... the enemy has become more vicious. More chemo sessions are needed and this time, more costly drugs have been prescribed. Her chemo medicines alone costs 96,000 and the sessions are scheduled every 2 weeks.
As much as my parents, my brother Gerard, and I want to keep this to ourselves and just deal with it, the financial need is too much. We feel there is no longer shame in asking people to help and to allow people to help our beloved Cheche.
We are asking all our relatives and friends, here and abroad to help us with the costs of Che Che's additional chemotherapy treatments and hospitalization.
My family and I say thank you in advance for your support, for all your prayers and for any financial help you can extend.
Please help Cheche win this battle so she could continue caring for others as a nurse.
