Nuevo Gualcho Church Fund
We are a group of return volunteers from the ICS programme in El Salvador. We all lived and worked in a small rural community called Nuevo Gualcho. We have made friends for life, and found our home from home in this beautiful and inspiring community. Devastatingly, on the 14th of February 2015, the church, the heart of the community, was burnt to the ground; only the shell remains. To the people of Nuevo Gualcho the church was more than just a place of worship, but a symbol of their ongoing struggle to create a safe and happy community for their families despite their extreme poverty and the violence stricken society of El Salvador. They are now left trying to pick up the pieces and rebuild the chruch, but they have no money for materials or tools. Estimated costs of rebuilding the church is $10000 which is an obscene amount of money to them.
We are hoping to raise some money to help get the community back on its feet after this tragedy and help them to restore the church and give them back that which was so important to all of them. Please donate anything that you can, even a few pounds. The price you pay for a meal deal at tesco is approximatley what they earn in a day of hard labour. They need our help and we as return volunteers want to help our Salvadoran brothers and sisters. Any help you can offer is hugely appreciated.
Thank you for your time and generosity.
