El Zonte is a beautiful beach town on the coast of El Salvador. It's lovely people have been highly challenged by the economic shutdown, the massive tropical storm in early June, and the looming threat of illness. We have had so many good times here, enjoying the surf and the beaches. The kindness of the locals has been heart-warming in an ongoing way, and I'd like to give back during this unique period of need.
During the quarantine, local organizations created food donation programs, which I had the fortune of being a part of. I was able to see, first hand, the direct benefit of even the smallest donations. We were able to purchase the basic necessities in bulk, stretching the dollars in a very efficient way.
Food donations have been very effective at helping bridge the gap for families in need. Now that many people are back to work, we are transitioning our aid to provide building supplies. Many people have roof damage from June's typhoon & cannot afford to do any repairs.
For December, we have teamed up with Jorge Venezuela (Bitcoin Beach) and Nette Klement ( Salty Souls ) to source/distribute roof laminate and other building supplies. We will visit each family on the list to determine how many pieces of roof laminate they need for their repair. A small contribution goes a long way to restoring hope and keeping the community thriving!!!
