Nottingham City Gymnastics was established in 2009 after it was identified that there were a large number of local children with a flair for the sport. The club begin with just 20 members, one class and three coaches. The club has since grown and developed over the years and now has over 120 members, 6 classes and 12 staff; 8 coaches, a dance teacher, a welfare officer, and 2 regular parent volunteers.
Nottingham City Gymnastics aim to create an environment where gymnasts of all ages, abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds can come together and enjoy gymnastics in a safe, effective and child friendly environment. There is no pressure on the gymnasts to achieve, but they are encouraged to take part, experience gymnastics activity, and love the sport. We provide a child centred, coach led programme and endeavour to help each gymnast develop to their optimum level of performance whilst ensuring they have fun. All the NCG coaches are British Gymnastics qualified at the appropriate level and where necessary have been screened for their suitability to work with children, passing enhanced criminal record checks.
In July 2014 the club are hoping to attend EUROGYM. The event is one of the biggest gymnastics events specifically for Young people. Organised by the European Union of Gymnastics, EUROGYM takes place every two years, the objective being to unite young gymnasts from all over Europe. It offers the attendees the opportunity to mix with gymnasts from other countries, to learn new skills in daily workshops, to perform to an audience of over 5000 people and to experience the culture of another country.
To attend the event we need to raise £3600, your genorosity will be greatly appreciated and enable the gymnasts to attend this fantastic opportunity.
