Campaign Story
We are residents and owners of apartments and duplexes from developments across the country campaigning for 100% redress for structural and safety defects.
The government is due to make a decision on what scheme to introduce by the end of the year. The example of the Mica campaigners from Donegal has shown us the power of standing together and building a grassroots campaign. We are raising money to help pay for placards, leaflets, and other materials to help get out the word to other affected owners and to help build the strongest possible campaign to win 100% redress.
Up to now, we have financed the campaign ourselves. But with the cost of living crisis affecting all of us, we are appealing for assistance going forward. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
According to a report commissioned by the government into defects in housing, most apartments and duplexes built between 1991-2013 are affected, with an average bill of €25,000. The most common defects are fire defects, which means some of us have unsafe homes.
Although most residents don’t know that they are affected yet, some of us have already seen bills of almost €70,000. As well as being unjust, this is simply unaffordable for most of us. If we have any remaining funds at the end of the campaign, they will be donated to a homeless charity.
