The Northern Ireland foundation is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation that develops programmes around:

  • a shared future in Northern Ireland
  • local community activism
  • the exchange of international best practices

Our vision is a Northern Ireland where the promotion of a shared society is seen as normal, in a culture of respect among all individuals and identities. But it extends to promoting these principles around the world, this is why it has created the Forum for Cities in transition.

The Forum for Cities in transition Fund is looking to raise funding in order to serve cities which are currently experiencing conflict. Fragile political environments have wide reaching impact on economic opportunities, infrastructure, education facilities and social life. Learning from experience from cities who have transitioned out of conflict, those in the best position to help, the forum seeks to create a knowledge sharing community to provide real solutions to intricate problems. These solutions are aimed to create practical arrangements on the ground as well as promote broader aims of peace, growth, regeneration and bolstering economic opportunities.
