I spent this winter vacation with the family in the Dominican Republic. I got to know alot of people, family, friends, and then i met Noel. His nickname is "pabito" (his dads nickname was "pabo" which means turkey). i met him a week before my departure, everyday we'd start off the morning by playing baseball, then we'd progress in the day doing random fun things. he was very comforting and loved being around people, then i noticed that its all he did, all he did was wake up, and come with my family to hang out. he called all the grown ups "aunt/uncle", and younger people "cousin", he's 12, so i understood that he liked to be outside alot, but he never mentioned his family, all i know is that he lived with his "aunt". Flash forward to 2 days before my departure, i asked his "aunt" about his family, and i was left heartbroken. Noel's situation was very...unique. His father passed away when he was young, (motorcycle accident of some sorts). and his mother passed away as well (hit by a truck). his original family weren't the best of people, so the aunt he is living with currently took him in as her own. There he lives with a few cousins (about 5), in a small home, and these people live very poor lives, poor, but happy/humble lives. i tried to find out more about him, but everything i found out was so vague, his life is so much of a blur, almost in a mysterious sense of the word. yet, he reminds myself so much of me when i was younger. he loves baseball, being around people who brings him joy, loves to be outside, and loves to be a 12 year old child in this world. the difference between Noel and my 12 year old self, is that my life had direction. i went to school in america, had a solid family constantly in my life, and i was fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to make something of my life. Now here is our chance to give a Noel an opportunity at a brighter future. Here, i will try to earn as much money as possible, and make sure that it goes to Noel's current family, advising them to use this money towards anything to better the lives of the family. What they do with the money is up to them, but i just want to make sure that Noel is ensured that we are there to support him, and that he will always have a family far greater in size than he can ever imagine. Anything helps, please spread the word, upvote, share to friends, donate, suggest anything else to help. Feel free to pm me, or email me for anything ([email protected]) thank you.
