No One Should Be Left Behind: Making Online Class Possible For Bryan

Hi! I'm Francheska, together with Jaimelyn, Irish and Adrian, grade 12- STEM Engineering students of a public school, would like to ask for your help in supporting one of our classmates who finds it hard to continue studying due to his current situation. His name is Bryan.

Since the start of the pandemic, Bryan's family have been struggling financially. His father, who is a tricycle driver, have lost his job. They only rely on his mother in sustaining their family of 8. However, what she earns is insufficient as her income is below minimum.

When our online classes started in August, Bryan had problems with the gadgets he is using. His personal mobile phone does not work anymore, and what he uses now is an old model tablet that he shares with his brother who's also having trouble studying online. The screen is broken and can't be accessed with a single tap. Looking at their means of living, his parents cannot afford to buy them a new gadget.

Bryan's another problem is his internet connection. Since their income is not enough for Wi-Fi installation, they settle for mobile data which costs a lot on a weekly basis. There are times that he would suddenly get disconnected during classes because he ran out of load. Aside from that, his poor mobile data connection prevents him from keeping up with the rest of the class.

A hardworking student, Bryan always gives his best when it comes to academics, reason why he excel in his subjects. But there are just some things beyond his control, despite how much he wants to finish studying and become a mechanical engineer someday. Bryan has always been helpful to us in class, and now it's our time to help him achieve his dreams the best way that we can. We are together in making sure that no one gets left behind.
