All donations are appreciated as we continue down our mission to help further the community of the Carolinas. There are over 41,000 children that will have nowhere to lay their head tonight, but with your help we can bring that number down drastically. As we continue to supply our youth with school supplies, clothes, and linen, our ultimate goal is to create transitional housing for these kids after they are 18 and out of the system.
When a foster/state custody child turns 18, they are no longer receiving help from the state and are now on their own. Most go homeless after graduating high school and become swallowed by the violence of the streets. Most American kids still have their parents’ home to stay at until they leave for college or the military, but not the kids we mentor.
With this problem, our ultimate goal of raising $75,000 is to create transitional housing for foster/state custody kids after they graduate high school. In these transitional homes, these teenage adults will have their own room to call home. Using our mentor programs, we will teach them different options in life whether they want to go to college, get a job to work, etc.
Now they will have the same opportunities as other kids that grew up in a stable household! We hope you can join us on our mission because we cannot do this without the support of our community.
HOMELESS YOUTH's STORIES:
Our Founder, Kendall Walker, was removed from his home due to child abuse issues at home in his early teens. He was then placed in state custody and saw what it was like to go through the system. Kendall’s childhood experience helped him mature and become a fearless young man at an early age. Instead of becoming a statistic, he used his pain as motivation to help elevate himself within his careers, and overall goals in life. Walker started the No Child Left Behind program to inspire and motivate the youth transitioning inside and outside of foster or state custody. This helps them know what they are going through is not the end, but the beginning to a success story!
No Child Left Behind, is a nonprofit organization located in Charlotte, NC under the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce (now known as The Charlotte Regional Business Alliance). We raise money to buy backpacks, school supplies and school clothes for foster and state custody kids within our community of the Carolinas. Kendall Walker spends the majority of his time mentoring and leading troubled youth in the right direction through No Child Left Behind!
