I met Petro last year when I came to visit the Eastern Cape in South Africa. I now live in the area and try to help her and her amazing cause. She opened and registered the Non Profit Organisation "Nkonkobe Animal Care" 13 years ago and ever since spends her life rescuing and feeding and caring for animals living on the streets. As she is a one person warrior and receives only very little help and donations in a struggling community, she needs our help.
At the moment Petro lives with 18 to 20 dogs and several cats in her home. There is no money for setting up a proper shelter so she shares her own space with the animals. Every morning she gets up at 5am to prepare food and go out in the streets of Ford Beaufort to currently feed 68 dogs and 45 cats. She then spends the day caring for the animals and give them medical attention as well. In the afternoon she stars preparing food again for the animals dinner. Every day. Summer or winter. Hot or raining. She is there for the communities animals and the families who can not afford to feed their own animals and take care of them.
When there is help from the local vets and sufficient funds she organizes "Spay Days" to fight the overpopulation problem of dogs and cats in the area.
Feeding all the animals comes to around R8.000 to R10.000 per month. Her donations per month are between R1.000 and R2.000. The difference she pays out of her own pocket which makes it incredibly hard.
Petro has a heart that is bigger than the hearts of a 1.000 elephants. She fights for abused and neglected animals every day of her life. Her day would need 48 hours to be able to raise funds and run social media accounts and a homepage to help her take care of all the animals.
I hope we can make a difference and get some donations together for this wonderful person and her furry friends. There is a few heroes living on this planet, she is one of them!
The money goes 100% into the animals, their food, their medical care. 600 Euros covers food for one month. 400 Euros will go into spay and nuter, tick and flea prevention for 10 animals. It is not a lot, but a start! Let's make it possible!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation and support!
