How it all started:

Facebook is connecting people and so started our way. Trough our former volunteer work where the boys lived we got in contact  in 2010. The love for these kids brought us together. After climbing some high mountains and swimming some deep seas we are still together supporting them. We are not planning a "divorce" any time soon!

Tanja her fascination for Africa started already before she went to university. How to choose the destination was easy, her father found Tanja in Tanzania might match very well. In 2007 she started learning Swahili and fast her first trip followed to Moshi. Since 2008 she has an on-off relationship with Tanzania which became a never ending story. After meeting Freya, Tanja took the father-role over the boys.

After a lot of travel experience during her studies and living abroad in Japan and Netherlands, she decided to make one more big trip. One year after graduating as an architect she travelled to Ethiopia
with the plan of arriving in South Africa one year later. But she never arrived in the south, she ended
up Tanzania where she never left again. After meeting Tanja, Freya realised she was not the only white Swahili speaking person in Moshi. By living in Moshi and cooking better she took the mother-role over the boys.

What are we doing?

Amran, Silvery, Reagani, Pastory and Gregory are 5 former street boys between 18-20 years old. Because of their ages they had no more chance on getting support from other organisations, although they were all still going to school. Since more then 2 years we became a family with these boys. We rent a house for them, pay the school fees, provide them in all necessarities like food, clothes, medicins and everything else boys of their age need. Freya lives full time in Tanzania and is their gardian, Tanja visits 2 times a year.

With our professional background and expierences in this country we learned how important it is for children and young adults to live in a warm family, where they have security of food and shelter, school and help through daily life. It wasn´t always easy in the beginning to find a good balance, but after some time we work together as a team and family. We couldn´t be prouder of our 5 boys who all still go to school, learned what ambition and future perspective is and get more independent every year. We still are actively raising money for their school fees, rent of the house, daily life costs and food budget.
