Nikki de Dios was an athlete, and was the youngest finisher of the Bataan Death March 102 kilometres in the Philippines back in 2014. After graduating college in 2016, she became an OFW in Qatar. September of 2017, she was diagnosed to have a demyelinating disease, epilepsy and a rare congenital abnormality in her brain which is called Corpus Callosum Agenesis and Commissural hypogenesis dysgenesis with Colpocephaly. She was hospitalised back in Qatar for 6 weeks due to complications of the disease which then she could not walk, was very weak or eat on her own initially. Eventually she lost her bladder and bowel control. After a few weeks in the hospital, she was brought to the Medical ICU in Hamad General Hospital where she was intubated, put on ventilator and in a coma for a week due to multiple and long duration of her seizure attacks. A month after her discharge, she started her Occupational Therapy and on December, her Physio Therapy. In between her recovery phase, she is brought back and back again several times to the hospital for recurring seizures and last January 2018, her condition regressed. After having achieved to walk on crutches the past months from being on a wheelchair, she is back on the wheelchair again. Family decided to get a second opinion in the Philippines in the hopes of finding a cure for her condition. For further investigation, she was admitted to St. Luke's in Quezon City for 3 days for more tests and was advised to be transferred to UST Hospital for the initial treatment. Due to the financial difficulties we are encountering, we could not afford to admit her to the hospital for the treatment which will be around Php200,000.00 as we have just spent almost Php 100,000.00 on her last hospitalization. We are humbly asking for help from your kind hearts of any amount to finally have a final diagnosis for what has been happening to her and for her to get the treatment she needs. She has been a sickly child ever since but this time, being in and out of the hospital has taken a toll on our finances.

  • Hi Mix, I was a schoolmate of yours before. We never really talked but I envy your strength. I really hope you still get to enjoy the little thing in life despite what you're going through. You're doing so, so well.
