Nicole’s Volunteering in Vietnam Fund

Hi, my name is Nicole Mc Govern, I am 21 years of age from Dublin. On the 15^th May 2018 I will be travelling on my own to the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi. For two months I will be volunteering in Vietnam’s National Hospital of Paediatrics with PMGY and CSDS Vietnam.

The Hanoi Paediatric Hospital is home to the “Little Seeds” project, where CSDS runs a hope class which I have been assigned to work in. This is a classroom organized for the hospitalized children. Every day I will be caring for and playing with the children, organising games for them and teaching the children English.

The team of local and international volunteers work together to organize activities for the children and help the patients and their family to overcome the burden of the hospitalization by creating a friendly and positive atmosphere. When hospitalized, children face huge changes in their life that can substantially affect their mental well-being. The Little Seeds project at the National Paediatric Hospital of Hanoi brings recreational and educational activities that can make their journey easier.

I'm hoping to raise €1000 towards my volunteering trip, to allow me to go and make a difference. With the money raised I plan to buy supplies for the class, toys, books, clothes for the sick kids when I am in Vietnam. This allows me to help provide needed supplies for the project and it also puts money back into the local economy.
