Campaign Story
Nico is my son's beloved companion cat. Joe is 11 and has autism, Nico calms him and is able to recognise when Joe needs support.
On Wednesday 6th February we came home from school to find that Nico had been injured. The vet is certain that this was the result of collision with a car.
The fact that Nico survived this was a miracle, he has a heart murmur so the shock alone could easily have killed him but it didn't and he has some minor grazes along with a fractured foot. Unfortunately the heart murmur was discovered at his registration visit, and until we had further assessment done his original insurance company would not extend his cover past the trial month. Once he had specially testing it was discovered his murmur was severe and getting insurance became way beyond my reach as a single parent.
This means that I now have to fund his recovery. We have opted not to have an operation on his foot to realign his toes, this would have been over £1000 for the op alone and vets do not believe there is any ongoing risk to him from having wonky toes! However, the bill for his care so far, including splint and bandaging to get him home on cage rest, is around £600.
I would appreciate any help that people can give us with this, thank you from our family

Up to mischief!
Update posted by Ellen Kirkby at 07:11 pmI think we can safely say Nico is feeling better. Tonight he took advantage of my night shift daze and when I didn't fully zip his pen, got himself out, took himself into the kitchen around 8 metres away, ate the other cats food and then hopped his way back
Vet Check
Update posted by Ellen Kirkby at 09:00 pmNico came home on Friday night with a splint and bandaged foot for cage rest. Today was his first check up and the news is good. He's healing well, the bandage was changed and the vet said it did cause Nico some pain so we have to do the cat version
