An aspiring rugby star from Zeekoevlei is in need of R60 000 to attend the Western Province Rugby Academy (WPRA) next year.
Nicholas Snyders, 18, is ecstatic after he was accepted into the academy, however, the WPRA only pays R28 000 of his R88 000 tuition.
His proud mother, Debbie Snyders, 54, says he jokingly asked her in May if he could attend the Western Province trials and she said yes.
“I made the arrangements and booked his spot for R500 and told him this is an introduction for your future,” Debbie says.
“About a week later, he received his acceptance letter and we were all ecstatic.
“I only realised recently that it will be a mission to raise the funds.
“Last week I told the coach he could give Nicholas’ place away to someone else and he would just have to wait for the next year but they refused.
“He asked us to place anything we had in the account for the deposit.
