New UMC christian center, book store, caffe, place for children’s and low-income families!
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ!
We are a family from Liepaja - a city in western Latvia, located on the Baltic Sea. Almost a year ago we received a calling from God - to open a Christian book store named “Sabath” in our city, which was opened on June 15th.
A year ago, we were truly open to serve God us a family and we still are, but we never thought it would be so hard ... I could write so many things I was going through and us a family, but we’ve never lost hope that God is with us.
Throughout this half a year of the book store being opened, we have changed the name of this place - from Book store to Christian center (a new church). From the first day as we received the calling to enter into this ministry, we also felt that it must be more of a book store – having such activities as devotions, prayer time, kids club and other events through which we could evangelize. We now have devotions, kids club and hopefully soon we can start morning prayers.
The book store at the end became like a place where people can purchase books, meet each other and God in different ways. Throughout this half a year God has used us like a tool in His hands, as we were praying for people, listening many testimonies, and also sharing ours. But this was also a really hard time for us - our income turned out to be so small that we couldn’t even cover day-to-day expenses. We are truly devoted to this place and new ministry, but we struggle a lot making ends meet.
We have been praying and asking God as to what should we do - to shut this place down or what? We do not have a clear answer yet, but we know that it is a place from God. We are certain of it, and that is why we are asking for your help.
