Hello friends! My name is Michael, or Mike, and I am in dire need of help from complete strangers like you! Now, let me give you a brief background of me. I have moved out of my parents' home in New York several times since I was young, for reasons that shouldn't need explaining(but message me if you'd like to know), and since June 22nd, 2015, I have succeeded in living independently for the longest amount of time I ever had before. Without depending or relying on the support of anybody but myself, I have established residency and a small business - Mike's Techs, L.L.C. - in the state of Florida!
At the beginning of July, I received my acceptance letter to Stetson University School of Business in DeLand, Florida. I am beyond ecstatic, as I have been attending community college at St. Petersburg College, Gibbs campus. Upon receiving my financial aid award(assuming I was to continue at St. Petersburg College), I would have received approximately $12,000 back in refunds to help me get a jump start on my small technology repair start-up.
However, since receiving such a great and unexpected opportunity to attend the prestigious university of Stetson, I decided to forfeit this $12,000 in refunds in exchange for a chance to attend a school that will have a profound impact on my life by receiving an education at Stetson U. I did not realize however, that there is no discount for in-state residents, therefore leaving me with a balance of $21,251 - after receiving $34,315 in financial aid, loans, grants, and scholarships!
Total tuition for the year comes out to $55,566. I am asking that the generosity of this community assist me in paying off just half of my remaining balance - ($21,251÷ 2 = $10,625.50). I accept responsibility for my education, but I cannot take full advantage of such an amazing education without all the necessary supplies. I will be picking up and moving, putting my newly formed business on the side, and diverting 100% of my energy into this education.
My major is Business Administration with two minors Political Science and Computer Information Systems. I aspire to become a leader in the international community so that I may have an influence on all of the policies that I see wrong in our world today. I feel very passionately about American politics and how the big-businesses(Corporations) control our government officials and how the American people and culture are being taken advantage of and laughed at in the world-wide forum.
Irregardless of my political views - here is the breakdown of the cost of attendance and my financial assistance:
Meals/Meal Plan: $5,232.00
Total Bill: $55,566.00
Dean's Scholarship: $15,000.00
Federal Pell Grant: $5,815.00
FL Resident Access Grant: $3,000.00
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan: $4,500.00
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan: $6,000.00
Total Financial Assistance: $34,315.00
Balance Remaining: $21,251.00
Monthly payment plan: $2,140.10 (They expect me to pay that, as a full time student, PER MONTH, while attending school!)
Now, should you need any additional information/documentation, or if you'd like to chat, send me a message on here or in an email at [email protected] - whether it be to discuss finances or to discuss business and/or politics; I am always open to meeting and speaking with intelligent people with whom I can hold a conversation that consists of anything but small talk. :P
Thank you for taking the time to read all of this non-sense, I've never crowd-funded before - so I appreciate your time, thoughts, advice, and most of all, I thank you for any donation you may choose to make on my behalf. Next week, August 20th is move-in day and I just barely have enough to get myself out there and moved in.
Thanks again, I wish you all the best, and hopefully one day you will have the chance to vote for me as your representative! :)
