New Year’s Eve Apartment Flood

At 12 AM on New Year's Eve, my fiance and I were sipping champagne and heading out to the balcony to watch the fireworks. At 12:05 I went to the kitchen to grab something and saw that there was water dripping from the light, the ceiling, all corners... everything was covered in water. The other rooms in our rented apartment started dripping from the ceiling too. A heating valve had burst in my upstairs neighbour's apartment and he was off somewhere at a party, not knowing what's happening.

The next few hours are a blur - we were trying to soak up all the water with every towel we own, I was frantically calling the building manager, the neighbour... The holidays were completely ruined, we were in shock. It was a nightmare.

We now have repairmen of all kinds to "look forward to". We get scared at every tiny noise, every drop of water from anywhere. We are terrified. We can't live here anymore.

We want to leave this dreadful place. We want to go somewhere better. But we need help to do it.
