New Start

Dear community, I wanted to share my story with you and request your help in supporting a new start.

I have been part of the vehicle sharing economy during the last 6 months (driving for Uber/Lyft), after having spent 15 years in the corporate world. The move was involuntary - I was part of a layoff and was not prepared to re-enter the workforce. My freshly updated resume as well as business and personal networking and referrals have not produced any in-person interviews so I was forced to seek other ways to generate income to support my family (wife and two kindergarten-age children). My senior management experience also disqualified me from any low-level paying jobs (waiter, bartender, etc.) as well as any non-specialized fields unrelated to my business degree. Sharing economy does not discriminate though - young or old, PhD or HS Diploma, everyone can participate and I am very grateful for this opportunity. I started to work full time driving my car and making ends meet. However, after now 6 months, I am at a point where my next rent payment, car payment, insurance, etc. are in jeopardy. Without these I will not be able to continue to feed my family.

I would like to ask you for your kind support so I can take the next step in the right direction. What I can offer in return is to give back every single dollar raised to the next person in need. Or if there is a specific charity you'd like me to contribute to I will do so as soon as I am back on my feet. Karma works.
