  • Fantastic news for Umsizi Vervet Rescue Centre.

Today we have finally found our new home for Umsizi.

With this land we can carry on the Rescue and rehab work we currently do, and save the lives of our current monkeys at the centre that hang in the balance after local authorities served us notice to find new premises by the end of this month or they will remove and Euthanise all our primates.

We have found approximatly 42 Acres of suitable land heavily forrested with indigenous trees and Fruit trees and a natural water supply.

This land will afford us the opportunity to set up an outstanding Foundation for Volunteers to come and learn about South African Wildlife, learn about our primates and care for them, working towards our plans for future releases.

This will make the Centre almost self funding in the future, with the opportunity to open up a medical clinic for veterinary students to come and work and gain experience working with primates and other wildlife. It will also offer work to members of the local rural community.

The centre will remain as a legacy to the amazing work Tracy has done long after she has gone, and will include a Nature reserve for all wildlife.

We now need to raise R300,000 as a matter of urgency to secure this fantatstic location for the future of our Vervet Monkeys and for future wildlife rescues.

Along with this we also need to raise a further R300,000 for the building of new cages.

We have support pledged from 2 businesses already.

One business has pledged to build 2 cages all at their own expense for Umsizi.

The other has pledged to supply all Materials we need at cost and to supply a team of builders to construct and errect 2 more cages, again at their own cost.

This amazing generousity still leaves us short of the 7 cages we need in total.

Many people have pledged their support for Umsizi, and to Tracy for her incredible work with the Monkeys, and now is the time we desperatly need that help and support to secure what will be the only Wildlife rescue Facility on the South Coast.

This is a fantastic oppertunity for Umsizi and the local wildlife, but it can only succeed with the generosity of all our supporters and donators.

Please show your support by making a donation, no matter how large or small, it all helps towards securing the future of Umsizi.
