Really this is a two-fold fundraising effort. I must go back a bit and explain how I got to a place where I am asking strangers to help me and my family. For almost 23 years, my husband and I have been doing, what seems like, a never-ending dance - we take 1 step forward, 2 steps back, 3 steps forward and 1 step back, 2 steps ahead, now 3 back. No matter what we do, we are just treading water. I am not igorant to the fact that there are millions of people in the same or similar situation as us. And that's the rub. All that drives my husband is a book that he is writing. This book promises to be an amazing help to so many people in the world in the same type of situations we find ourselves to be immersed in. I believe this to be true. Unfortunately, he has not really had the opportunity in the past to settle in, concentrate and make it real. So, why now? Why ask for help now? A few reasons: he has been able to focus and the book is nearing completion, but the reason has had the time to focus due to a back injury that makes him unable to do 99% of the work that he has been working at all his life. Late in 2013, Doug had an accident at work that caused a disc to move outside of it's normal position. Since then, he is in fairly constant pain - he can not lift very heavy things, his legs are numb, and he can't walk, stand, or sit for more than 30 minutes at a time, and a few other things that hinder his normal daily activities. Not very many employers are keen to hire a middle aged man that has these things working against him. Yet, he is deemed 'employable'. I was earning enough to cover our modest living expenses and provide for our family in a modest, but 'bills paid, groceries in the fridge, shoes as needed' kind of way. We were not well-off, but getting to a place where we were doing ok. We thought we were finally getting somewhere! Why am I not there now? Unfortunately for us, the partner I had did not uphold her end of the agreement and arrangement and now our family is sitting at 4 steps back. And lastly we have exhausted all other avenues (of which there were few) and are coming up short. Our family (there are two children and a dog involved too) are facing immediate and definite financial ruin if we don't ask for help in any place we can. I can't even fathom being evicted, no food, living in a car life for us.  Thankfully, we have a business that we are so very close to making a success. It has everything we can hope for: a good return, allows Doug to sit, stand, lay, rest, and to write when he needs to, I can be home to look after what he needs, and I can still work the business from home. Obviously, I can't tell on here exactly what it is -that wouldn't make good business sense, :) but I can tell you I just worked for three years, over 70 hours a week, making a business just like this one successful, and I know that I can do the same with this one. We have everything in place, except for a few things, and only need approximately $5000 to cover our living expenses for 1 month and to buy the startup necessities. I know that this business will succeed and that we as a family will succeed. We would be eternally grateful for any donation towards this business of ours. So many people would make money by the business and it would enrich lives. Once the business startup funds are met, all extra will go towards my husbands book publishing, once again enriching lives - because I believe that's what we can do for one another; help and better one another.   Thanks you for whatever you can do :) Tara
