New Beginnings

Let me start by saying, my story is not usual, it's not heroic, and it is not as heart wrenching as some others. What it is, is the story of a wounded and broken women in need of something she nevers asks for, the help of others. My name is Demetris. A year ago after major surgery, my doctor asked "what would it take for you to take a leave of absence and allow yourself to heal? She was concerned about the effect that a highly stressful job was having on my mind, body, and soul. Her main concern was that she was, as we use to say in the Air force "patching  me up to get me back into the field" and that I wasn't addressng the main issue which was a life style change.  So, I told her that I'd have to be able to go back to school to get certified in medicaid and coding, so that I'd be able to work from home and still take care of my familhy. But that was just a quick answer to silence her, I didn't have time to think about myself, I had to many responsibiities and obligations to ever consider leaving my work environment. Therefore, I worked sick. Well, a year later a series of recent health scares have convinced me that its time for change. My  cousin was diagnosed with  non-Hodgkin lymphoma, my mother suffered severe pain and respiratory issues related to sarcoidosis, and I had a lupus flare-up that put me flat on my back all in one month. So, I'm appealing to you to help me achieve my goal this summer, of obtaining enough funds to complete the 12 month courses needed to obtain my certification and set up a home office. This will give me the freedom to properly help my family heal, support them and allow myself to heal. My motto is "keep going no matter what." With your help I can keep going, but in a different direction.
