Campaign Story
In 2017, the Juara Turtle Project proposed the Juara Animal Welfare initiative with the aim to control the population of stray animals and reduce problem of in-breeding and spread of diseases.
The very next year the Juara Animal Welfare center was officially opened on April 28 th
Now in 2019, we are ready to launch our new neutering program! And we need your help!
In-breeding and abandonment are big issues for cats in Juara as the population is growing too fast and they are left on the streets or in the jungle. As a result, they can contract diseases, worms, infections and develop a weak immune system. And the females produce unhealthy kittens.
As a lot of you have visited the place, you may know that Juara Animal Welfare is a transitional place from wildlife to new homes. Eventhough they are well taken care of and provided with medicines when needed, it is not a suitable place for them to spend their lives.
A neutering program would first, allow us to get our cats ready for adoption so that they can find loving families. Second, it will be open to anyone who is willing to neuter their cats.
It will prevent the diseases to spread even more in the future.
In 2018, we ran a successfull program where 77 cats were neutered within 3 days.
But more cats are waiting !
We estimated that 60 cats and 2 dogs are ready to be neutered.
1700 USD will cover the following costs:
-Team of 6 veterinarians from mainland salary/accomodation/food: 880 USD
-Cat neutering/medication: 720USD (12 USD per cat)
-Dog neutering: 100 USD (50 USD per dog)
Help us develop a smaller but healthier cat population to improve their future in Kampong Juara!
Thank you for your donation!
