Almost there! 3 years later, we are close to getting our house rebuilt after Earthquake in Nepal

Update posted by Tekendra Thakuri On Jan 21, 2018

Dear Friends,

As most of you know, when our house was destroyed in the earthquake we failed to raise enough funds to rebuild it. We did, however, start a savings account with the amount raised. And now, 3 years later, with help of family, friends and a lot of work, we are closer than ever to rebuilding the house! Construction already started! Anything you can give will help a lot. More materials need to be acquired and suppliers need to be paid. No amount is a small amount!

Thank you so much for all your help.

Namaste

Hello dear friends,

I wanted to take the time to give you a new update. I have researched for any option that could be available to build a house with the amount we raised but it was not possible to find any construction company or other alternative that would lower their prices so much. So my family and I decided to invest some of the money raised to build us a new cottage, I've attached some pictures. It's one step towards a better structure for living. I'm now saving the remaining of the money raised so I can hopefully add to it and in the future build the house that we envisioned. Many of my neighbors have built 2 or 4 bedrooms houses in the village that are earth quake safe and I am hopeful that I will be able to do so in the future as well. I am currently with prospects of working as a guide in the touristic season and also looking into other options such as taxi and some opportunities of contract work.

I'd like to thank you again for all your help. Although I have not yet been able to build a better house for my family, I feel most humbled by your donations and have faith in the future that with hard work and the enormous help you have provided, one day that dream will come true.

Thank you one more time.

Namaste,

Sapaman

Hello Dear Friends,

I just wanted to let you know that I'm finally back to Nepal and reunited with my children. I can't describe how happy I am. My cousin Tekandra and I are now studying how to build a shelter with the amount raised by this campaign. Thank you so much! Because we did not reach the total amount we envisioned for this campaign, we won't be able to build the house we had in mind. But many people from my village have built shelters and I'm confident that I can find some structure that can be built with the funds we have raised!

Below a picture of me and my kids together.

Thank you, and namaste
