I have decided to step outside of my comfort zone and follow through on a life long ambition to volunteer and work with children at an Orphanage in Nepal for 2 weeks starting on 16th November, 2015.
Nepal is one of the least developed and poorest countries in the world. There are a large number of orphans in the country and the number is rising due to the widespread poverty. It’s cities, especially the capital city of Kathmandu close to where I will be located, is abound with innocent children with cherubic faces, living in extreme poverty.
The Childcare Project I will be working on is located in the outer hilly suburbs of Kathmandu. The full name of the project I am participating on is the “International Volunteer HQ Nepal Childcare – Kathmandu Project”.
There are so many basic resources these children need and I hope to be able to bring some of the simple comforts of life to them during my visit. With your help and donations we can bring a little happiness into the lives of these beautiful Nepalese people.
It has been recommended not to hand over any money directly but rather I purchase needed items in Nepal myself. Once I am in Nepal, I can see for myself what is needed at my placement and then purchase items accordingly, as this not only allows me to see exactly where our money is going but also contributes to the local economy.
I really appreciate your support with this very worthy project.
Thank you so much, Marie x
