Campaign Story
Raising Readers by Descending the Tower....
Thomas and I are going to abseil from the scarily high top of the 11 story Carlisle Civic Center to raise money for Thomas's school, Clifton Primary, located just outside Penrith in Cumbria.
The Civic center was built in 1964 and is the tallest building in Carlisle at 134ft. The roof looks to be a very long way from the ground. However, we are in the safe hands (I hope!) of Mark Davies who is an experienced climbing instructor and trainer at Lyon Equipment based in Tebay.
The money we raise will go towards making better use of the schools buildings by installing raised reading pods in each classroom so that the children can have somewhere quiet to go and practice their reading away from the hustle and bustle of the main classroom.
