Neil Burton's Stem Cell Treatment Fundraising
Hi All,
I'm trying to raise funds for my brother Neil Burton who is 32. In 2009 Neil fell ill with two rare conditions called Transverse Myelitis & Guillain Barre Syndrome which attacked his nervous system. Four years on he is confined to a wheelchair and still reliant on a ventilator for his breathing. Neil has been left severely disabled and requires 24 hour care.
Neil has been an inspiration to his family. Despite the pain and the obvious frustrations he has to deal with on a daily basis he has continued to work in his IT job (via speech recognition software) and provide for his family. He has three wonderful small children which he adores. Tragically Neil does not have the use of his arms so can no longer give them a hug and play with them.
Neil is a fighter and is currently pursuing a course in stem cell treatment which is what we are fundraising for. We are trying to acheive £25,000 pounds which will pay for his travel costs and treatment in Israel with a doctor who specialises in stem cell treatment.
Our hope is that one day Neil will once again be able to hold and hug his beautiful children.
Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
John

Wishing Neil and your family all the very best - I noticed his story via the AMHSA website which talked about the amount Logistex had raised. I was touched by his story as my sister had Guillain Barr syndrome in 1995 and felt compelled to donate!

Hi John, that's great news that you are nearly there! I'm so glad I could help. I also had Guillain Barre Syndrome when I was 18 months old so I felt I should do something. I have to say it was a tough 6.5 hours... but no-one would have sponsored me if it was easy! All the best to you, Neil and all his friends and family :-)

Liz, that's amazing and thank you so much. Congratulations on completing the climb, I know several people who have tried and failed that climb! We still need to collect in some of the pledges but once everything is banked I think we have made it!! Neil should be booking his treatment soon and then I will provide updates on here and our facebook page. Thank you once again, you are so kind. John
