Dear friends and family,

My story made a life-changing twist in 2013 when I embraced life-sharing in Camphill Ireland. I decided to move to Ireland and worked as a co-worker in a small inclusive community in Carrick On Suir. The workshops, art schools, local friends, and the backcountry scenery of Carrick opened my love for arts and crafts. While living and working with people with special abilities, I studied photography in Kilkenny Collective for Arts Talent (KCAT) and met artists and tutors expressing their dreams through arts. Lorna was one of them who always liked to paint the next day after spending time “in her valley of dreams.” KCAT and Camphill workshops gave them the space to express their imaginations and share their colorful lives in the stroke of the brush and molding the clay. There is a different feeling of wonder and a touch of healing seeing paintings drawn with love.

Two years ago in August 2019, I moved to New York to study Social Therapy in Camphill Academy through a fellowship grant from Triform Camphill Community. In Triform I continue to work full time in the weavery and co-managed a house while studying at Camphill Academy. The whole experience I had in Camphill communities gave me the space to share my abilities, the understanding of individual differences, and respect and care for the earth. I left Triform Community this year but the journey will not end there. I'm starting my mission to extend this life-changing experience I had in these communities to my city. I made plans to start up a Camphill-inspired initiative here in the Philippines with an art space like KCAT and share my experiences and skills from the Camphill Academy.

The project will be one of the very few art spaces in the country and the first in the region. Help me carry the flame which Karl Konig started on that Advent Sunday night that grew brighter into a worldwide Camphill movement. We are now bringing this light through your help to my country.

The Challenge.

When restrictions on covid travel will be lifted, I will start a solo bikepacking event around Negros Island. The entire stretch of the north and south Negros highway loop will cover 700+ km (434+ miles). I will be cycling alone on most of the routes. At some points, there will be some cyclists and friends from the south who will join me. This was also one of my dreams to travel mindfully and meet local people in the region. Bikepacking has also continued to give me positive effects on my mental health and inner work development.

I’m doing this challenge mainly to support my mission of creating an inclusive art space and a small biodynamic garden in Talisay City, Negros Occ. The Philippines. I have seen how people changed in this time of the Covid pandemic. People have been stuck in their homes and screens for days and months. This project will make a huge impact on the young people, the volunteers and adults in the community to come out, work together and be creative in an environment where the dignity of the human being is upheld and respected.

Where do your donations go?

I have already started the project but there is more needed. This crowdfunding event will help make this initiative a success and in years will grow into the first Camphill community in the Philippines.

100% of your donations will be used to purchase tables and chairs, art materials, equipment, an outdoor projector set, construction materials for the toilet, and a water pump for the garden.

Volunteers are very much welcome. Send a direct message to my number 09618316984.

The cycling challenge will need minimal support but if you want to sponsor my cycling expenses please indicate in your donations and let us know. This will be used for supplements, incidental bike repairs, food, and medical emergencies.
