Needlework Dreams!

Update posted by needlesong On Dec 08, 2013

No news just means I have been busy stitching. Since I started this, I opened one shop on Etsy. I added other online shops on Storenvy, DaWanda, TicTail, Ezebee, and Zibbet. I have had sales lately on Zibbet, but it is still very early to tell with the other shops. The only ones that cost me any money are Etsy (listing fees) and Zibbet. I'm part of several very active teams, and my traffic is steadily increasing. So, it all points to a great 2014.

A lot of my energy this year went into working with a brand new non-profit group called Canada Stitches. I still do some work with the Angel Quilt Project, but I do feel that there are needs that go beyond premature infants still in the hospital. About the time I set this fund up, I started working with Quilts for Older Children and Adults. They do multiple-panel projects (where a group of stitchers donate) and present these unique creations to children and adults with life-threatening or life-long illnesses. So many are heartbreaking. Our small gifts mean a lot to these people, giving them something to hold on to during treatment, or to wrap around them when they are feeling low.

Through them, I did 4 Christmas Kitties that went to help the Blind Cat Sanctuary in North Carolina. Cats that are perfectly healthy except for blindness are often put to sleep just because of their challenge. Sad, because many of these cats do not even know there is a problem. They are wonderful in so many ways. Making a few Christmas ornaments is the least I can do for them.

Canada Stitches is working to find groups in Canada that we can help. Premature infant quilts are nice, but... we can help raise funds for animal shelters, or create a quilt for a cancer fundraiser. So many more options!!

I am not discouraged - I know money is very tight all over and for anyone to have money for frills like funding these dreams is a miracle. Still, miracles do happen. I keep stitching, and stay focused on the dream. We will make it one day.
