Need to repay those who rescued us!

Update posted by kamcbrair On Apr 29, 2015

The fundraiser does not show a $100 refund, and our biggest benefactor needs to be paid back nearly $1,200 as he is not working and in need of a kidney transplant.  Another $40 has been repaid.  In reality, only $105 of the funds raised are actual donations that do not need to be repaid.

We sincerely appreciate everyone's help, and I can swing some repayment on my own, but even though I have returned to work (thank heavens!), I also need to find a way to not only pay back the money but also travel this year -- my son is donating a kidney in order to move his dad up on the list, so I have two loved ones going in for surgery soon.  I pray both surgeries go well.

Thanks to a local agency, yesterday I got a mattress for the bed and boxspring that I got from someone else.  So as far as furniture goes, nothing else is critical.  Emma broke in the bed properly by some good gas passes (yep, she's a Boxer), and we slept in until 7:30.  Nirvana!

We have made the move to our new digs! (Many, MANY thanks to Mark and Pastor Tom, who put us in touch.)  Thanks also to Shirley, who enabled phone and internet connection so I can start seeking new transcription work.  Thanks to Myland, the rent got paid, and Emma got dog food, delivered yesterday.  Thanks to Pastor Nancy, we have paper products and dish soap.  Thanks to connections through my health clinic, we got a dresser, a small TV, and a bed frame and box spring -- I'm sure we'll eventually find a mattress.  We are camping out on the floor, but we are camped out on the floor in our own place and basking in the quiet.  Emma is immensely enjoying a more relaxed mom and having the freedom to move about the whole place.  As the saying goes, one door has closed, but more than one has opened, and the positivity has lifted my spirits.

We learned today that any donations via Stripe will not be deposited to my account, but I have updated PayPal so that donors can pay as guests without joining PayPal.

A generous donor has enabled us to come up with enough for the rent, which is a huge relief; but after funding fees and ATM fees, we're still in need of some funds for dog food, cleaning products and paper products.  Thank you!

Two days of dog food left with no cash, and I got a letter from my security deposit funding source saying they will not pay the security deposit if I get help from an agency to pay the first month's rent.   Aaaagh!

Many thanks and blessings to my $100 donor.  (I know who you are!)

This morning, I received an e-mail that funding has been located for me for the new apartment, so my monthly rent will be $282 per month instead of $510.  This is the best St. Patrick's Day I've ever had!

Thank you, Kate! Yes, poverty is a bit like quicksand -- it's a struggle to get out, and I'm finding that it makes it even more important to surround yourself with supportive, positive people who really want you to succeed. No need to apologize -- every little bit helps, and giving anything at all is still giving. Thank you again from Emma and me.
