Campaign Story
Hello! My name is John Fresco and I go to Pomona College in Claremont, California. This past weekend, my laptop (MacBook Pro) was stolen from my dorm room when both my roommate and I were out. I have filed a report with Campus Safety and the local authorities, but I have not heard a response from them. I am currently borrowing a loaner laptop to do all of my work, but I can only rent it out for 1 week at a time before I have to return it to the college. I have been able to do my work and extracurricular activities thus far, but I do not know how my situation will unfold as the semester ends. I am able to pay for some of the laptop to replace through working, but as a first generation and low-income student, it is going to be very hard to replace on my own. I have asked the Dean of Students and Financial Aid offices for help only for them to direct me to the process of taking out a loan to pay for it. The financial burden of paying for the laptop is too much right now, and I am hoping to get some help from the community. The laptop costs around $1500 and I am asking for $1000 in the hopes that I can receive some help towards paying for a replacement. Any donation, no matter how small, can help me a lot. I understand that not everyone can help in the form of a donation, and simply sharing this go fund me can help me so much. I appreciate everything! Thank you all!
