My mother Shirley, 55 years old, have been suffering from Statis ulcer on her both legs for more than 2 decades. Statis ulcer is a breakdown of the skin (ulcer) caused by fluid build-up in the skin from poor vein function. And this made her suffer from difficulty in walking for a couple of years.
My mother is mighty single parent to us since I was 7 years old. She raised me and my 4 sisters by herself by working to multiple jobs like health worker, reseller or a dress-maker. She made her best to get us scholarship to local government so we can continue to college.
When she got the ulcer, we only use diapers to stop the bleeding of her feet. It's been years before she finally can see a doctor to have consultation about her legs. During these years, she was quiet and not open about her situation. She stayed strong and continue to support her kids by getting more jobs.
Her ulcer is on and off. There are months that the ulcer is fine and dry, and has no wounds and there are months that it swells and has a crater-like wounds.
We tried our best before to find her a doctor here in the Philippines however, we don't have easy access to the vascular surgeons in my city.
Now, that we finally found a doctor nearby. I can bring her and see what else I can do to help her. They suggested "vein stripping", it will not completely remove the ulcer but it will lessen and it will improve the blood flow in her legs which will help to speed up healing of the wounds every time it will appear.
Me, as a single parent too, I know now what are the struggles she has encountered. I want to help her lessen the pain of this never ending wounds. I would like to ask for help from you guys to make the surgery happen.
All your donations will go towards my mom's hospital bill/medicines and laboratory procedures.
Thank you for taking time reading this, and I pray that whoever will extend help to our family will be blessed even more.
