Who are we?

The Shri Navagraha Devasthana of North America Project is a visionto create asustainable Temple fostering the Vedic Culture and Heritage of Spiritual Philosophy in the United States Of America and North America, with roots that will comefrom the power of the teachings of Hinduism, the most ancient way of life and Vedic scripture. The Project will have 9 branch Temples that will be established in Major cities ofUnited States of America. This project seeks to create a Temple and community space that can house, inspire, disseminate,and support the spiritual scene and elevate the soul through the understanding of religions.

About NAVAGRAHA:

Navgrahas refer to the nine celestial bodies in Cosmos which are said to have influence on life of people on earth. They are respectively Ravi ( Sun ), Chandra (Moon), Angharakha (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Sukra (Venus), Sani (Saturn), Rahu and Ketu ,which are respectively the invisible North and South Nodes of the moon . Some interpret these bodies as Neptune and Pluto. The Science of Astrology predicts the life progress of individuals on earth depending on the position of the above celestial bodies in the Cosmos at the time of birth of the individual These celestial bodies , particularly the Sun and Moon have profound influence on the climate of different geographical regions of the world. It is for these reasons they are worshiped by Hindus during various religious rituals.

In Hindu religion and mythology, the nine planets occupy an important role. The planet deities are referred to as the NAVAGRAHA and are suppose to have a significant impact on the lives of individual and therefore a Hindu adorns these planets as deities, so that they may bring peace and harmony in their life and to avert any mishap. NAVA means nine. GRAHA means planet.

Maiden Project:

The first Navagraha Temple is dedicated to Lord Saneeswara, which will be consecrated in the City of New York. This would be ‘first’ Saneeswara Temple in the United States of America.

Salient Features of the Project:

               The Temple will have multiple branches in North America and have facilities for spiritual services, religious rituals, education, events production, and creative endeavors to achieve simultaneous goals, which are:

• Temples for spiritual and astrological Understanding
• Preservation of the Vedic Culture
• Fostering traditional value that pushes boundaries and defies expectations
• Accessibility to the understanding world religion thru Hinduism and vedic studies
• Vedic & cultural Education for all levels
• Maintaining high standards in all aspects of our work and service
• Supporting our community of senior citizens and spiritual seekers
• Widening our boundaries of Understanding Hinduism and Vedic Religion
• Sustainability
• Providing an environment for academic scholarship

What does the Temple do?

Right now, we are planning a full-fledged temple with all spiritual services in Queens NY, a community center and a senior day care center and other cultural activities.

Spaces function:

Temple / Weekend school / Community & Performance space/ Library

Service Center / Cafeteria /Lounge

The Shri Navagraha Devasthana of North America project is so much more than a space for people to connect & pray, give and take and bring about an understanding of harmonious living. It will be a hub: an incubator space that produces the up and coming students in Vedas alongside veterans provides new and interesting programs while providing a quality religious experience. It will be a space where someone can come anytime of the day and know what to expect: a space that a devotee knows that there is help waiting for them and patrons know will provide a profound spiritual experience.

What kind of financing is needed for a space like this?

Total Project cost – $1.25 Millions.

Phase 1 - We are looking for $250,000 - $300, 000 either as an investment /interest free loan (3 year) with an equity stake in the company or a donation

Phase 2 – 24 months down the line – Need $500,000 – 750,000 either as an investment with an equity stake in the company or a donation

 

What have we achieved?

• The company has been registered in the State of New York,
• Placed order for the sanctum Idols for the Temple.
• Identified a space for the Temple Location and given a proposal for       leasing the property.
