We desperately need help, we can't keep up anymore! As a nonprofit and charity donations are the lifeblood that sustains us; while we are very thankful toward those that go out of their way in order to help us, we can no longer feign prosperity with a straight face. Things are going very, VERY poorly for us both as an NPO and as human beings only just scraping by because we'd rather the animals in our care be able to eat each day than to prioritise our own well-being. This manner of thinking is not sustainable, and never was. We do not get help from volunteers and as such we must employ workers to keep the kennels clean, sanitary, and to keep the cats cared for with food, water, and medicine. Employing workers is extremely costly on top of the countless other expenses. We do not exaggerate when we say that 99% of ALL expenses are paid for out of our personal pockets... This is not how a charity ought to operate, but we made do because Sabie is an unfortunately tiny town where we've attempted countless manners of fundraising to extreme disappointment. Our hearts weigh heavy with the burden of the ultimatum we've arrived at. We are going to have to put down the poor, unfortunate cats who are not adopted for too long a period of time. These cats have been deemed unwantable and disposable by human society and it rips our souls to shreds to say such things. We've always prided ourselves on being a strictly no-kill shelter, always believing in giving each cat the chance it never had at a warm, healthy, and loving life. The time has however arrived to act pragmatically and to be realistic about the situation. We will start posting pictures of our fosters with the highest potential of getting adopted, as well as the ones that have been with us the longest; we will consider this their "trial period" after which we will have no choice but to bid farewell to the injudiciously unwanted piteous creatures. From now on we'll also forego all adoption fees to give the cats the best chance possible. We will not carry out this campaign lightly, but we can find solace in the fact that we did all we could to make their lives worth living for as long as was possible to the best of our abilities. In the meantime we won't pass up the opportunity to beg for assistance both monetary and otherwise. If you are able to secure a fixed amount monthly or weekly donation it will do wonders at ever so slightly lifting this burden and for every kitty that will get to have their meal each day, one might be able to only thanks to you. We will also take the liberty to list below what we need the most so that those of you reading this who might be able to spare, part with, or purchase, might do so with speedful glee.
