US$7,020.00raised of $35,000.00 goal goal
La Casa De Loto is a small Meditation & Yoga retreat center, dedicated to supporting our guests on their journey to becoming more conscious through meditation, yoga, and insights based on Buddhist teachings. If you have joined us at La Casa De Loto, you know how valuable and life-changing the experience of retreat can be. If you have not yet visited our center, we look forward to welcoming you soon and offering you the guidance and space needed to cultivate insight and transformation. Our new center will have a total of seven private retreat cabins, all set within a beautiful forest only 5 minutes away from Guatape.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic we haven´t been able to run any retreats for the last couple of months, and have lost the lease on the farm where our retreat center was located before. It turns out that all this was for good, because a wonderful opportunity has presented itself and we just found a permanent home for La Casa De Loto in the mountains of Guatape, Colombia. It is a place full of trees, water springs, fresh air, all amongst white clouds - perfect for holding our retreats and at the same time protecting 12,000 square meters of untouched native forest.
With your support, we can now make use of the lockdown time and build five missing cabins, bridges, paths, and a solar energy system on the new land to hopefully change some lives and send light into the world soon again.
We are offering a 10% discount on all our retreat packages at the new center to everyone who donates now.
For a donation of $60 USD or more you will get a coupon for a private Pranayama or Meditation online class with Pema.
For a donation of $600 USD or more you will get a coupon for a one week retreat for yourself, or someone else in one of the two bed cabins.
For a donation of $1200 USD you will get a coupon for a one week retreat for yourself + someone else.
For a donation of $7000 USD or more you donate one of the retreat cabins and are simply amazing. You can come for a total of 12 weeks over the years and the cabin will carry your name.
Should we surpass our goal of $35,000, we will use the additional funds to build a Stupa.
When we look into the Buddhist scriptures, they say we should first be in forest retreats as these calm the mind, then in mountain retreats as the views open the mind, and afterwards we should sit by flowing waters, as these teach us the constant flow and change of everything. This new retreat center is set in a native forest, with panoramic mountain views and streams meandering the property. So its truly the ideal setting to welcome you and other meditation practitioners at your next retreat.
Please help us spread the Dharma in Colombia and to protect this pristine piece of nature. Your donation of any amount will be of great help, and so will spreading the word about our fundraiser.
(Please be aware that the Fundraiser system only accepts Paypal payments for Colombian Fundraisers, the card option doesn’t work and will show an error).
We are very grateful for your dedication and support. Lots of light and love to all and hopefully see you soon.
Pema and Maria
About Pema
Pema is a Buddhist and Dzogchen practitioner and teacher. He mainly follows the teachings of the Dudjom Tersar Lineage, and H.H. The Dalai Lama.
Very early in his childhood Pema lost both of his parents. Meanwhile, all of the wealth they had left for him by will was stolen by others in his family while he was still young. As a teenager and into his mid-twenties, he struggled with this betrayal and loss while pursuing a career as a professional musician, but eventually developed addiction problems and an unsustainable lifestyle. All of this led him into a deep depression.
One night, just a moment before jumping out of a seventh floor window into a grey, stinky Berlin backyard, Pema had a flash of insight which encouraged him to step away from the ledge. This moment eventually led him to understand the nature of the mind, and the art of just being. Soon afterwards he gave away all of his belongings and went to live and study with various lamas and yogis around the world, to learn more about his experience, and how to share it with others through buddhist and yogic practices. He has learned from Japanese Zen and Tao Masters, lived in Tibetan monasteries, and took a one year mindfulness meditation and yoga teacher training in Colombia.
For the rest of this life Pema wants to stay on retreat, and share the precious teachings and practices which he had received with others.
