September 11th remembrance event. This event is a hockey tournament with firefighters, first responders and military personnel. By September 11th 2016 it will be 15 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Our world has changed a lot in that time, but one thing that has not changed is the courage of our first responders and our military. These men and women put on their respective uniforms every day to keep our communities, and our country, safe and now they play in a high level tournament free to the public and community. The teams are made up of firefighters, military, and a mix of first responders and longtime supporters. The public is encouraged to come out in support of all four teams, as they pay respect on ice to the heroes who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. There will be special events throughout the evening including some very special surprises that children will really enjoy. Remember this tournament will honor the heroes lost, their families and all of those lost since then. There will also be a 9/11/01 memorial piece of steel from the World Trade Center among other items.
