Epilepsy is a serious disease that affects 1 in 50 people in this country. About 77 new cases in every 100,000 people are diagnosed every year. These estimates are two to three times higher than in developed countries (KEMRI). Finding a cure for those living with Epilepsy is important to us because we care for those families who suffer day in and day out living with epilepsy.

Shine Epilepsy Support Organization is organizing an event in observance of National Epilepsy Awareness Month. Our organization’s mission is to close the gap of the plight of people with epilepsy; improve how people with epilepsy are perceived, accepted and valued in society; as well as to ensure together with their families have access to full life experiences.

National Epilepsy Awareness Month, which will be held from November 1st to 30th, 2021, teaches others what a seizure is, and is not. Let us dare to imagine a society free of stigma, fear, isolation, discrimination and seizures; a community that is safe, supportive and accommodating of those living with epilepsy. Throughout the month, the Shine Epilepsy Support Organization will work to spread awareness across our regions through community events, local partnerships, social media campaigns, and lighting the towns and cities of our 47 counties purple to declare November National Epilepsy Awareness Month!

Your involvement with us in National Epilepsy Awareness Month is an opportunity for our organization to receive more exposure and to join other individuals, organizations, and coalitions in our community to help in closing the gap of the plight of people with epilepsy; improve how people with epilepsy are perceived, accepted and valued in society; as well as to ensure together with their families have access to full life experiences and also create and strengthen community partnerships.
