National Benchmark Test Sponsorship for 2022 University of Cape Town Campus

My name is Lincoln Matthews. I was born on the 2nd October 2004 and I am 17 years old. I am the eldest of three children, my younger brother and sister are in grades 7 and 4 respectively. I come from a very disadvantaged background. Both my parents has been unemployed for the past several years and as a result we do not have a set source of income.

I am currently in matric (2022) at Fred Norman Senior Secondary in Ennerdale, Johannesburg South. I am very hard at work at school to excel academically so that I can be the change for my family. In February 2022 I was elected as the President (Chairperson) for the Representative Council of Learners (RCL) at Fred Norman Senior Secondary and I am also on the school's Prefect Body. In March 2022 I went on further to district level representing my school on the RCL Board and earned the portfolio as Public Relations Officer (PRO) on the District RCL for District D11, Johannesburg South for the Gauteng Province. Furthermore I have also been a Math Tutor for high school scholars since I was in grade 9 in 2019 until the present time.

In May 2022 I applied to several universities in South Africa for the year 2023 so that I keep my options open when I matriculate. At the University of Johannesburg I applied for two separate degrees, Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB). I was provisionally accepted for both qualifications. I was also provisionally accepted for a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. However, the past few years have taught me as a person of the difficult reality we live in and a huge part of me really wants to give other people the opportunities that I never had. So my FIRST CHOICE on my application to the University of Witwatersrand and University of Cape Town was a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. This degree is very competitive and only a limited amount of learners are accepted each year. For this degree, the university not only looks at your academic results but also takes the National Benchmark Test (NBT) into consideration. In order to be consider for place in Medicine in South African Medical Schools, one needs to write the National Benchmark Test by 14 August 2022 for early admission.

The costs for traveling for the 2 nights in Cape Town (R1300 intercape bus), transport (R300 from accommodation to UCT campus), accommodation (R1200) 12 August - 14 August and meals (R600) amount to a minimum amount of R3400. Due to circumstances I am unable to cover the costs by myself. So I would like to take this opportunity to humbly ask any person, people, business or organization to assist me in that regard. Please allow me the opportunity to write the National Benchmark Test on the 13th August 2022 at the University of Cape Town Upper Campus. Please help me achieve my academic goals and dreams to further my studies and obtain the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery qualification. Please help me be the change for my family and allow me to give others the opportunities I did not have.
