Campaign Story
Help me reach my goal to help under-priviliged people with their medical needs! Any donation amount is greatly appreciated and one step closer to making a difference.
As I complete my junior year at the University of Georgia, I become more inspired to make a difference in people's lives. Access to healthcare is something we take for granted, as we forget about the people in need that are forced to overcome extreme levels of poverty and under-developed lifestyles. I am writing you to earn sponsorship to help these under-privileged people with their medical needs. With your support, I plan to make a difference as a part of a volunteer team for the provision of medical services to under-served populations in Belize, Central America. Through International Service Learning, a non-profit organization, my volunteer team will be partnered with health professionals from developed countries, who also wish to donate their time and knowledge. Together, we will give medical attention to children outside of hospitals and medical settings. Because I plan to explore the field of pediatrics myself one day, no other opportunity would bring greater pleasure than directly seeing the satisfaction and appreciation these kids have for medical personnel.
Things myself and my volunteer team will be aiding with include:
assisting with vital signs, patient interviews, labor and delivery duty, monitoring diabetic patients, vaccinations, pap smears, screenings and treatments, basic pharmacology, emergency duty, tropical diseases ( malaria, dengue, etc.), basic women's health, basic pediatric exams, and many educational programs for preventative health.
Help me reach my goal of $1,865 which is solely for the medical resources(medications/treatments, site fees, screening/diagnostic equipment, suture/injection training, etc.) each volunteer is expected to contribute.
