NANCARROW KARAOKE!! (a polyrythmic, multivoiced, ecstatic fantasy)

Having recorded the tracks for a CD of the music of Conlon Nancarrow after transcribing his stunning player piano rolls for my voice, I want to produce a CD called NANCARROW KARAOKE! Now I need a final bit of funding to complete the project. Nancarrow was a completely brilliant composer born in the USA moved to Mexico in the 40s & composed astonishing vibrant exciting polyrythmic music for player piano influenced by boogie woogie, jazz, West African drumming & experimental classical. His music is pure joy, its dizzying rythms and complex yet accessable tonalities lift you up, I challenge anyone not to smile when they listen to his ecstatic sound! I adapted his music for voice & this album is purely vocal, you can listen, or of you are brave, join in! It presents a totally new angle on his music. Think twenty five Bobby Mcferrins meeting Stockhausen on a polyrythmic intergalactic journey!

I have funded this project myself up until now.I am on the home straight with the recordings and need funding firstly to do final studio sessions to finish mastering the tracks, and secondly to get the cd of this amazing music, pressed and printed.

I am a voice-artist/mezzo-soprano and leader of 'The Voice Party', aiming to be an artist with no borders, for whom performance, the creation of new work and direction, the desire to communicate, are all an extension of my voice. I aim to encourage extended vocals and non-spoken vocalisations as a mode of communication in society. I have performed in contexts as diverse as working with leading composers of today, physical theatre companies, international opera houses, West End musical, contemporary music festivals, Stand-Up comedy, installation art and art gallery contexts.
