Campaign Story
Nanay Rebecca is battling Breast Cancer Stage 4 with metastases to the lungs. She had a mastectomy last 2012 when she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer Stage 2B; however, cancer has metastasized to her lungs and progressed. She also has Diabetes Mellitus Type II and an enlarged heart. Her eyes and kidneys too are being monitored for complications brought about by diabetes.
She hails from Samar and in her youth worked so hard as a househelp so she could bring all her siblings and parents to Manila. She became the bread winner for all of them and their extended families in the late 70's to early 80's.
I was given to Nanay Rebecca when I was barely 3 months old in 1985 because my own biological mother (whose identity I do not know) couldn't afford to raise me out of fear from her own father.
Nanay Rebecca selflessly raised me, was able to see to it that I am well schooled and educated, and made sure that all my needs are attended to. She did not treat me differently. She gave me all her love.
We might not be bound by flesh and blood, but we are bound by our hearts. She is my mother. She means the world to me. And if I have to reach out to the whole world to seek help so I can somehow return the favor, I am more than willing to.
Please help me save Nanay Rebecca. Please help me save my mother.
