My late grandmother, Soo Kim has passed away on 7th August 2017. The reason I wanted to start this fundraiser is that I want to 'adopt' or 'buy' a couple star package to memorialize my late grandmother and her surviving husband.
As I am only a student, I don't have a financial income and the packages are quite pricey. Hence, I am asking for donations, no matter how small or big it is, to help me with the funding to memorialize my grandma and as well as my grandpa.
If there are any excess amount of cash after that, if enough, it will be used to purchase another package to honor my mom and dad. After this, the remainder of the cash will be donated out to any charity or fundraisers.
Soo Kim and Lim Ng Hua officially became my grandparents on 20th April 2000.
Grandma was an excellent chef and housewife. In 2010/2011, she was put on dialysis 3 times a week as her kidneys had completely stopped functioning due to her long term health issues like diabete, high blood pressure etc. Despite going through the pain and tiredness of being on dialysis, she never once complained or cried and still got up and cook us meals. Sadly, she passed on 7th August 2017 at the age of 69, 2 weeks shy to her 70th birthday due to a possible fluid retention in her lungs.
Grandpa was a great teacher and a architect. He taught me nearly every subject from English to Maths ever since I started primary school at the age of 7. He also taught me architecture after I dropped out of college after my granny's passing to work for my father's advertising company. As her passing was too sudden, he became very depressed. He has now moved in with my uncle, but his condition still remain the same.
Hence, I would like to present him this gift to cheer him up and let him know that grandma is now a part of the stars in the sky. She would also be very happy to know that I'm always remembering her when I look up to the night sky and to the stars.
They taught me how to be a humble and kind individual and to not give up whenever something happens. Also, to always be strong despite being chronically ill. They will always be my unmovable pillars behind my success in the future.
