Volunteer Teaching in Bali

What:

I have the opportunity to participate in a meaningful volunteer project teaching English in Bali through International Volunteer Headquarters(IVHQ). My passion is volunteering abroad and through this program I can dedicate two months to teaching children between the ages of 8 and 12. The ability to speak English is a tremendous asset in Bali, as greater English literacy leads to better opportunities for higher education and career prospects in growing industries such as tourism. Balinese students are eager to practice their conversational English skills and learn from native speakers.

Why:

I caught the bug for volunteering and teaching specifically, when I went on a volunteer trip with The Power of One to Thailand last January. I got to teach English to children in southern Thailand. It was amazing to see them jump for joy as they learned new words in English through the games we played. They felt seen, important and appreciated; thankful for the effort they saw us give. I got so much satisfaction by focusing on helping others. I have the time and basic means to embark on this journey. I can't imagine not taking this opportunity to change someone's life.
