The Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers, also known as MYCAT, needs your help in raising funds to purchase a 4wd patrol vehicle for protection of the worlds rarest and most endangered Tiger subspecies- Malayan Tiger.
Help MYCAT protect this beautiful animal that now numbers less than 200 individuals in the worlds oldest rainforests. The vehicle will be used to facilitate a unique and innovative program, where members of the public (including you!) can assist directly in anti-poaching patrols along the border areas of Malaysia's premier national park, Taman Negara.
MYCAT has enlisted the assistance and cooperation of community rangers & global citizens in conducting foot patrols to prevent heartless poachers from decimating our precious wildlife. Tigers, leopards, elephants, sambar deer, Malayan sun bears and tapirs, and pangolins all suffer indiscriminately from poachers rifles and snares - and we need your help now in stopping this very real threat.
The community rangers, consisting of the Bateq aboriginal community and local village communities surrounding the national park, go on multi-day foot patrols pursuing poachers & searching for snares. The vehicle is sorely needed to facilitate their movement along a 100 mile (160km) forest border, in taking them to and from their forest patrols. These community rangers represent the front line in the protection and conservation of the Malayan Tiger and consequently many other rare and threatened species that call the forest home.
