My Wife’s Chemotherapy and Surgery

My wife, Novielyn Berbal Dacillo, 41 years old, from Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte is diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. It is a kind of bone cancer that has caused her unbearable pain for several months. Last June 2021, we bought her for consultation to determine the cause of the severe pain on her right leg which also made it difficult for her to walk. To our sorrow, MRI and biopsy yielded a positive result for cancer. Our oncologist at the Davao Doctors Hospital (DDH) informed us that Novy has to undergo 3 phases of treatment: 1st phase chemotherapy, 2nd phase surgery (tumor removal), and 3rd phase is another round of chemotherapy.

Our family is already exhausted financially because of the month long hospitalizations and workups that Novy had to undergo. Not to mention also the medications and laboratory tests that has consumed all our family's savings. It hurts me so much to see my wife suffer from extreme pain everyday, which is why I want her to undergo treatment the soonest possible time.

Novy is a highschool teacher while I sell ukay-ukay for a living. We have 3 beautiful young girls who rely on us for everything. Sadly, due to this pandemic, I had to stop my ukay-ukay business and had to borrow from relatives for her pain medications.

Our journey to treating my wife's cancer is only starting but it has already left us with various loans and debts. We are knocking on your generous hearts to help extend Novy's life and to fight off this cancer. We hope to raise Php800,000.00 which will cover the cost of chemotherapy at Davao Doctors Hospital. DDH is the only hospital nearest surigao that offers radio and chemotherapy. The doctor advised us not bring her to a public hospital because of her comorbities, given that most Covid19 patients are treated at public hospitals.

Novy's first round of chemotherapy will start on the last week of September. By God's grace, we wish to see her complete her treatment and be declared cancer free by the end of this year. We hope that someone reading this could help our family with the much needed assistance. I know this is a huge amount of money and we have never imagined ourselves to be in this position. Yet, we humbly request for any help that anyone could extend. Novy still has so much to live for and we could never thank you enough for your help.
