On 09/09/2013 my family received the worst news we could imagaine. We were told my wife had an aggressive form of breast cancer. The oncologist told use it was what they call a triple negative. This means no oral hormone chemotherapy medications would work to fight her cancer. Unfortunately, these medications would be covered for the most part by our insurance. However, the only treatment that will work are intravenous chemotherapy medications. Now my wife had a chemo port implanted on the 26th of September and her first chemotherapy treatment on the 27th of September. Yesterday I recieved a notice from out insurance company that they will only cover seventy percent of the chemo medication. That leave us to pay thirty percent. For my wifes first treatment we owe $1,600. This was only the first of sixteen treatments. Then there will be surgery and radiation treatments Now we are a family of five with a modest income. My wife and I both work. However, with all her oncology appointments and the side effects of chemo this has cut back on her being able to work. I try to go with her to her oncology appointments and plan on attending all of her chemotherapy treatments to support her, so again this in turn keeps me out of work. Needless to say this is a big hit on our house hold income. Now I am a proud man who takes care of his family. However, this problem is much more then I can handle. This leaves me with no choice but to reach out to the kindness of stangers in hopes of recieving a helping hand. Thank You.
