Hi everyone!! Near the end of the year I will be joining a volunteer group and traveling to South America to a low income area located in Pachacutec, Peru. We'll be working on a project in a childcare/orphanage to enhance the nurturing of impoverished kids, offer free education, play with them, show them care, and overall bring a little more light into their lives. With very little running water and electricity in the area, everyday life is even more strugglesome for kids living in foster homes with already limited resources.
I’ve set up this page through the volunteer program for anyone who would also like to contribute or “give back.” I will be covering my costs of time away from work, vaccinations, Spanish classes, flights, travel to and from the homestay and worksite, background check, visa, etc. We are also responsible for bringing all of our own supply to provide and care for these children (games, clothes, arts/crafts, etc). If you wish, you can also directly send any small items (games, art supplies, etc.) I can use with them as well. For all of my friends who are teachers, I’m open to hearing your advice and ideas too! I am very blessed for the life I get to live, and want to help and offer others with what I can for those who were dealt a less fair hand.
I understand we all have our own budgets and expenses for our own responsibilities, but we are still so very much more fortunate than others than we often realize! Even when we think we’re struggling to make ends meet, it's important to be thankful and remember there is someone else who would do anything to be in your situation instead of their own. The smallest gesture will go so incredibly far compared to what they have now. Even the smallest acts of kindness help to making this world a little bit of a better place
