I have always wanted to buy and renovate a motor car, but lack of funds always got in the way. So, instead, I decided to build a reproduction vehicle based on the vintage voiturettes of the late 1890's. The vehicle is being built almost entirely out of scrap and scrounge, with a few pennies spent here and there for bits I can't source by these methods.
The project has now got to the stage where I need to look at a power plant for the vehicle. I have a contact/friend in Florida who builds land trains and other vehicles as a business and he has offered to supply a unit suitable for the build, but it is out of my price range despite his offer of an incredible discount. The unit he has offered consists of a 4HP engine with a specially developed Magneto which will charge a battery pack which will in turn power two electric motors. This unit and the appropriate battery pack is what I am asking for help with
I live in Cyprus, the engine unit is not not available here, and to get it over here is going to cost more than I can afford. So far, I have made everything else on the vehicle, including the first pair of four wooden wheels, and there is still more to do. If I can get the power plant, I can continue with the project, as it has come to a stand still while I figure out how to finish it. I have put over 300 hours in so far, and I don't want to see it go to waste, so I am asking for help.
I will add photos now and then as noticeable progress is made. I am estimating around 18 months to complete the project.
As this is a personal project, not a commercial one, it is difficult to know what to offer in exchange for help, but what there will be is massive appreciation to those who see fit to assist me. Who knows, I might even choose one of you and use your name on the vehicle!!
The first photo below shows the first pair of wheels ready for finish sanding. The second photo shows the vehicle in it's current state.
