My Village

I decided to start this found raising for the little village where I grove up, so I can give back something to the village and to those lovely people who still live there. The urbanisation soon will end the fairy tales of this lovely villages and I decided to stop this.

The population of villages are decreasing because of the limited work places, many of us was constrained to leave the village, and move to bigger cities, or abroad in different countries around the word to earn more and live a better life.

After few years away from your family, friends, the river where you learned how to swim, the hill where you learned how to ski, and the forest where you spent half of your childhood, you will miss it so much that all the money on the world won't cover the gap.

This lovely village is located on the famous land of Transylvania, 240km away from the castle of the world famous Dracula the vampier.

The name of the village is Disznajo, 'disz' means ornament and 'najo' means okay. The name came from two man who was sitting at the top of the hill at the border of the village and one of them said, look at this beautiful place, why don't we name it 'disz' and he's mate said 'najo' and this is how it become Disznajo.

First historical records goes back to the 14th century, this is when the first church was built.

Disznajo is the last village in Mures county, Romania with a major hungarian population. If you would like to know the story of Hungarians in Romania I would be more than happy to tell you in more details.

Now let's got back to why I would need your help.

Standing alone won't last long, as most of you might know, we love our traditions and would love to pass it to our children's, grand children's, starting from the folk dance, spring and autumn dance festivity, the village days, and many others.

We can only keep this traditions if we have funds to teach and maintain them, but the government doesn't help because this is another expense which won't generate any profit.

With your help I would be able to help the community, families, their children's, the elders, build new houses, increases the population, which is currently below 1200 and decreasing year by year.

We have great potentials, natural resources, lands which are awaiting for someone to work on them, we can build small factories, bakery, barber shop, there is not a single person in the village who doesn't have a profession.

With founds we could build cabin lodges, weekend houses which would bring tourists increasing the sales of products, and maybe increasing the population.

People are welcoming and lovely, believe me if you ask them what racism means many of them won't know the answer.

Me and my friends who also left Disznajo, we all believe that with a little help we could make things work and hopefully we can all return to our families, friends and roots.
